Our story
A Lisbon story, since 2008.
We started NAE in Lisbon in 2008, around a simple belief: that beautiful, well-made shoes should never cost an animal its life.
We're Paula and Alex — co-founders, partners in life, and parents to two daughters. Our roots run through Germany, Portugal and Barcelona, but we made Lisbon our home and built NAE around the craft Portuguese footwear is known for.
The name says what we stand for: NAE — No Animal Exploitation. Not a slogan, but a line we've never crossed. Every pair is designed to be wanted first, and made entirely without animal materials, always.
What began as a personal conviction grew into a brand — carried by people who care how things are made as much as how they look. Thank you for walking with us.
