A Different Kind of Black Friday: Buy Fair. Choose Mindfully.

Every November, inboxes fill with countdowns, flash sales, and promises of “biggest ever” discounts.
But at NAE Vegan Shoes, we believe the biggest deal isn’t a percentage — it’s the impact our choices create.
This year, once again, we’re celebrating a different kind of Black Friday: one defined by fairness, compassion, and craftsmanship that lasts.

Why We Don’t Believe in Mass Shopping

Black Friday has become a global symbol of overconsumption — millions of products produced, shipped, and discarded within months.
Our industry knows the cost: factory pressure, waste, and growing emissions.

That’s why at NAE we’ve chosen a calmer, more responsible path.
We don’t make extreme discounts or encourage buying for the sake of it.
Instead, we offer small, thoughtful gestures — a way to thank our community for choosing conscious design while maintaining the integrity of our craft and the people behind it.

Every pair of NAE shoes is handcrafted in Portugal in small batches, using certified vegan and eco-friendly materials.
They’re made to be worn for years, not weeks — because sustainability only exists when products last.

What “Buy Fair. Choose Mindfully.” Really Means

For us, “Buy Fair” means fair to everyone:

  • Fair to animals, whose lives deserve protection.

  • Fair to people, whose hands make each pair with skill and dignity.

  • Fair to the planet, which sustains every step we take.

This philosophy guides every decision we make — from material sourcing to packaging, from logistics to community work.

Our Commitments in Action

1. The Plant-Based Treaty

In 2025, we joined the Plant-Based Treaty — a global initiative urging governments and businesses to shift toward plant-based solutions for the planet.
This partnership amplifies our long-standing mission to reduce the environmental footprint of fashion.
The treaty recognizes that our current food and resource systems drive deforestation, water scarcity, and climate instability. By supporting it, we advocate for a future where industries — including footwear — can thrive without harming animals or the Earth.

2. The Zero Pact: Measuring and Reducing Our Footprint

Our Zero Pact is a commitment to transparency and measurable action.
We analyze the carbon footprint of our operations and invest in high-impact projects to offset what we cannot yet eliminate.
So far, through this initiative, we’ve avoided 16,566 kg CO₂e, the equivalent of planting 662 trees — and this number grows every month.

But offsetting is only half of the story. The other half is reduction:

  • Shorter supply chains through local Portuguese production

  • Durable, repairable designs to extend product life

  • Minimal, recyclable packaging
Each improvement brings us closer to a truly circular model.

3. The Mozambique Clean-Water Project

At NAE Vegan Shoes, we’re committed to supporting impactful projects that make a real difference.
That’s why we contribute to a carbon-offset and community initiative in Mozambique, where access to clean water remains a daily challenge for many rural families.

Through the rehabilitation of boreholes and the creation of sustainable water infrastructure, this project:

  • Provides safe drinking water to local communities

  • Reduces carbon emissions by eliminating the need to boil contaminated water over wood fires

  • Promotes better health, hygiene, and well-being — particularly for women and children

Together with our partners, we’re taking practical steps to empower communities and protect our planet.
It’s a reminder that sustainability is not only about materials — it’s about people, too.

4. Rosa — A Story of Compassion

In 2025, we began sponsoring Rosa, a pig rescued by Animal Save & Care Portugal.
Once part of the livestock industry, Rosa now lives safely at a local sanctuary, free from harm and full of personality.
Her story reminds us that compassion is not abstract — it’s the quiet decision to care, to protect, and to respect all living beings.
Supporting Rosa is symbolic of the values behind every NAE design: shoes that walk gently, without taking more than they give.

5. The Pre-Loved Program — Closing the Loop

Fashion’s future depends on circularity.
Our Pre-Loved Program was created to extend the life of NAE shoes through resale and reuse, keeping quality products in circulation and reducing waste.
Customers can return their gently worn pairs, which we evaluate, refresh, and reintroduce to new owners — giving every shoe a second life.

We believe that both brands and consumers share responsibility for creating a better system.
When we repair, resell, and reuse, we shift from a linear “take-make-dispose” model to a circular, regenerative one — and that’s where real sustainability begins.

6. Supporting Communities: Donations to REMAR

We also act locally.
NAE has donated 230 pairs of shoes to REMAR, a humanitarian organization dedicated to helping vulnerable populations.
Many of these pairs are samples or small-defect products that still offer comfort and dignity to those in need.

These collaborations remind us that sustainability isn’t only ecological — it’s social.
Ethical fashion must stand for both environmental balance and human solidarity.

The Conscious Capsule: Minimalism with Meaning

To embody this philosophy, we created the Conscious Capsule — a curated selection of timeless vegan boots and sneakers for men and women.
Each pair represents the essence of what we stand for: durability, style, and responsibility.
By curating rather than overwhelming, we invite you to choose consciously — to buy less, but better.

Why Small Discounts Matter More

Our approach to Black Friday is simple: we value fairness over frenzy.
We prefer to offer modest, honest discounts that respect the work of our artisans, the sustainability of our materials, and the long-term value of our shoes.
For us, lowering prices should never mean lowering principles.

Every year, we see more customers joining us in this belief — people who want their purchases to reflect their values, not their impulses.
This growing movement shows that ethical fashion isn’t a trend; it’s the future.

Walking Toward a Kinder World

Sustainability is not perfection — it’s persistence.
Each step forward matters, whether it’s adopting a rescued animal, funding a clean-water borehole, or choosing a pair of vegan boots that last five winters instead of one.
Together, these actions form a path toward a fairer, gentler world.

We’re grateful to everyone who walks this path with us — our artisans, our partners, and our conscious community across the globe.
This Black Friday, we invite you to celebrate meaningful impact over mass consumption, and to keep proving that compassion can be a beautiful thing to wear.
